Warner Bros. Movie World on the Gold Coast, Australia touts itself as Australia’s #1 theme park and we tend to agree! Whilst it lacks the variety of it’s competitor ‘Dreamworld’ and the entertainment of it’s sister theme park ‘Sea World’, the park ultimately contains some of our countries best themed entertainment offerings.

When To Visit
Choosing when to go will greatly change your park experience. School holidays are generally the busiest but you the park often stays open later and operates all of their attractions. Outside of holidays can mean less waits, but it also increases the chance of rides being under maintenance.
Paradoxically, weekends often have shorter waits than weekdays. Saturday and Sunday have lesser wait times with Monday having the highest. Plan accordingly.
Before You Go
The key to a great day in the parks is planning! Theme parks are expensive and more popular than ever. You can easily get a leg up by seeking out information before you visit:
Ticket prices are generally more expensive at the gate so we highly recommend pre-purchasing. Save yourself even more time by downloading the Village Theme Parks App and link your ticket on there.
We always recommend getting to the parks at least 15-30 minutes before opening. This will help you stay ahead of the crowds. When choosing which attraction to do first, it’s often best to do the most popular ones before the park fills up.

Our Recommendations
Below we’ve put together a list of attractions alongside recommendations, ratings, thoughts & tips.
Must Do
WHAT TO EXPECT
A relentless coaster experience with a dramatic first drop providing intense thrills through constant twists and turns. This is Warner Bros. Movie World’s most popular attraction.
POSITIVES
- One of the best coasters in the world.
- Insanely forceful.
- Paid backwards experience is one of the most intense thrill experiences in Australia.
NEGATIVES
- Long line out in the elements.
OUR THOUGHTS
DC Rivals provides a roller coaster experience unlike any other in Australia. From the moment you’re pulled through it’s first dramatic, rotating drop you’re subjected to twists and turns that will delight even the most experienced thrill seeker. It’s no surprise that coaster fans from around the world travel to visit this behemoth of a ride.
WHAT TO EXPECT
An intense albeit short launched roller coaster experience that begins with a suspenseful section of dramatic show scenes.
POSITIVES
- Insane feeling, powerful launch.
- Inspired slow moving dark ride section before launch.
NEGATIVES
- Queue is an uninteresting, slow moving cattle pen.
- No phones in queue.
- Coaster portion can feel rough.
OUR THOUGHTS
Superman Escape often ties with DC Rivals as a guest favourite and often has long lines. Be aware that there is little to look at in queue and you must remove all loose articles which can make for a very boring experience in line. With that in mind, don’t miss out on this coaster!
OUR THOUGHTS
A charming log flume adventure featuring several show elements, surprising moments, and an unrivaled dramatic final drop.
POSITIVES
- Easily Australia’s best themed attraction.
- Incredible final splash down.
- Charming show elements from old Movie World.
NEGATIVES
- New boats slow down operations quite a bit.
- Gets very busy during hot weather.
OUR THOUGHTS
Wild West Falls is one of the oldest attractions in the park but don’t let that fool you. This log flume ride is an absolute highlight full of charm. It has one of the best final drops out of any log flume in the world. Also, there’s a thrilling surprise in the middle that you absolutely wont expect!
Highly Recommended
WHAT TO EXPECT
An intense launched flat-ride loosely themed around Batman.
POSITIVES
- Often has a short wait.
- Provides incredible views.
- Comfortable seat & harness system.
NEGATIVES
- It’s a short ride.
- Some directions provide a worse view.
OUR THOUGHTS
Hard and fast, Batwing provides simple but effective thrills despite being one of the more generic attractions at Movie World. It generally has a short wait and even experienced thrill seekers will appreciate the view that this ride can provide. We’d definitely recommend giving it a go if there is a short wait.
WHAT TO EXPECT
A slow-moving dark ride cross shooting gallery that the entire family can experience together whilst battling it out for the top score.
POSITIVES
- Great atmosphere and well presented thematic elements.
- The whole family can battle it out for the top score.
NEGATIVES
- Laser guns can be unreliable.
- Effects and lighting can be inconsistent.
A fun & mildly thrilling jaunt through a cartoon themed environment that provides the perfect first-coaster experience for younger and young-at-heart guests.
POSITIVES
- Perfect first roller coaster experience.
- New trains installed last year are comfortable for most guest sizes.
- Thematic elements are nicely presented and add to the area’s atmosphere.
NEGATIVES
- It’s short.
- Queue is out in the elements.
OUR THOUGHTS
This short coaster packs a surprising punch through it’s twists and turns. It’s perfect for a junior thrill seekers first roller coaster experience. We highly recommend this ride for families, but more seasoned guests can comfortably give it a miss.
Worth Considering
WHAT TO EXPECT
A mostly vehicle-based stunt show with the occasional slapstick comedy that loosely incorporates a movie making adventure.
POSITIVES
- Performers often appear to be enjoying themselves.
- The atmosphere of the arena is often very lively.
NEGATIVES
- Stunts lack variety.
- Story and plot are very basic.
- Vehicles are very loud.
OUR THOUGHTS
First time around you’ll enjoy your 45 minutes in the arena, but don’t expect anything groundbreaking. The performers are enjoyable and the stunts are tight, but overall it’s a very ‘safe’ stunt show. The show lacks any major spectacle that would provide a much needed ‘wow-factor’ making repeat watches worth it.
WHAT TO EXPECT
A relatively slow moving roller coaster with a steep inverted drop that teeters precariously around multiple turns.
POSITIVES
- Comfortable lap bar harness leaves you feeling vulnerable adding to the thrill.
- Inverted drop provides for a unique experience.
NEGATIVES
- Relatively tame layout.
- Constant braking ruins pacing.
- Coaster portion can feel rough.
OUR THOUGHTS
Looming ominously near the entrance of the park, this coaster is more bark than bite providing a relatively tame experience whose thrill wears off pretty quickly. We recommend doing this one for the inverted drop, but isn’t worth anything over a 20 minute wait.
If You’re Interested
WHAT TO EXPECT
A controlled looping ride that provides mild to moderate thrills depending on your thrill tolerance.
POSITIVES
- Often has a short wait.
- Looks great off-ride.
- Not as likely to get guests sick thanks to a lack of spinning.
NEGATIVES
- Relatively forceless.
- There is often a lot of down time between ride cycles.
- Looping motion makes the ride feel very predictable.
OUR NOTES
Doomsday is unfortunately one of the weakest additions to Warner Bros. Movie World’s line up. The swinging motion leaves a lot to be desired except for the brief moments where you are completely suspended upside down. Any wait over 15 minutes will leave most feeling unsatisfied with their experience.
